Sterilisation is a safe surgical procedure performed by a qualified veterinarian to remove an animal's reproductive organs. In females, this is called spaying, and in males, it is called neutering. This permanently prevents the animal from reproducing.
Spaying and neutering play a crucial role in mitigating the overpopulation of stray animals, which in turn helps prevent the suffering of numerous animals on the streets. These procedures reduce aggressive mating behaviors, minimize roaming tendencies, and foster a safer environment for the community at large.
Generally, it is recommended to spay or neuter dogs and cats when they are around 6 months of age, before reaching reproductive maturity. However, healthy adult animals can also be safely sterilised after evaluation by our veterinary team.
